Previously there had been a lot of buzz about this when Matt Cutts announced at PubCon saying that the ability to use and display rich snippets in Google Search Results may be taken away from low quality sites and its not surprising that it has happen as the Spam team head had predicted it.Recently Matt Cutts stated –

This reduction in the Authorship Rich Snippets has shocked all the webmasters and Bloggers who couldn’t see their authorship in the search results, its because of the low quality sites they have. We are safe as our Authorship snippet is displayed perfectly,go check your’s now!
According to Matt, Only the authoritative authors with high quality sites would be able to display their rich snippets in the search results!
A Google+ user, +Dave Keys reports that this update took place on Friday and also complains that this update has mostly affected the eCommerce and Commercial sites, He includes that writing unique Titles and Description for your posts would help you retain your Authorship.But nobody knows whether only Commercial sites are getting affected as many sites have lost their authorship and some commercial sites still have their authorship.
