What is iCloud?

iCloud is a cloud storage service by Apple. This service is available to the ones who apple products. You just need to have an Apple device to use this cloud service. This allows to share data such as Music, Videos, Photos, Documents, Contacts and iOS applications with multiple remote devices with Apple’s Operating System (iOS Devices such as iPhones, Macs With OS X Lion or above or windows with Microsoft Vista Service Pack 2 or above.)  This service also allows the users to wirelessly backup their data in iCloud storage.

Why People Use iCloud Backup?

Here are some features which makes iCloud backup awesome-

5GB Free Storage-

I’ve come across many cloud services, but this one’s the best because it offers you free storage space up to 5GB for your mails, contacts, documents and backups. And you can extend the storage to a certain extent with an yearly fee.

Separate, Unlimited Backup For Photos and Paid Content-

The photos you click and the content you’ve are isolated from the free storage and its unlimited! So you never have to pay to backup your photos or the content you’ve purchased through iTunes. You just have to turn on the Photo Stream Service to backup the photos automatically.

Easy To Backup and Runs Automatic Backups –

The Backups are automatically created and uploaded to iCloud whenever your device is connected to a high speed WiFi network which makes it amazing! You can even backup your data manually by following the below given steps-

Go to Settings, and tap iCloud. Select the “Storage and Backup” option at the bottom of the screen.Back Up Now, and the backup process will begin.

Integrated With All Your Devices-

If you just downloaded an Album on your iPhone, you’d probably find it on your Mac on the table, apple TV on the hall and also on your iPod in the bedroom without even copying it to all those devices. I really love this feature.  You need not use a cable to copy or sync stuff between your gadgets, iCloud will do the job!

Enjoy More Space On Your Device-

Backup the less used data in iCloud and delete it from your phone. Voila! You now have more space for your games and apps.

Stores Almost Everything-

  • Contacts
  • Calendars
  • Bookmarks
  • Mail
  • Notes
  • Shared photo streams
  • Documents you save on iCloud

  • Photos and videos from your Camera Roll
  • iMessage and SMS messages

  • Home screen and app organisation
  • Visual Voicemail

Other Features-

It has many more features such as it stores your contacts, its stores all your billing information and the payments made to the iTunes or Apple which enables it to remember all your paid content which can later be downloaded for free.

I have Nexus 4 and use dropbox + Titanium backup. I think Android must add function of automatic backup to Google Drive in firmware for users such in Apple.
